Theodor Eicke (1892-1943) was a German SS-Obergruppenführer and General of the Waffen-SS . He was “Leader of the SS Death’s Head Units and the SS Guard Units” and also the murderer of Ernst Röhm.
As second commandant of the Dachau concentration camp (June 1933–June 1934) and subsequently as inspector of the concentration camps, he was also significantly involved in the construction of the German concentration camp system. During World War II, Eicke was commander of the SS Division “Totenkopf” , which was originally formed from the guard units of the concentration camps.
